Zuarungu: The Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Zuarungu, located in the Bolgatanga East District of Ghana's Upper East Region, has admitted 481 students for the 2024/2025 academic year. Among the new enrollees, 366 are female and 115 are male, with students distributed across three main programs: Registered General Nursing, Registered Midwifery, and Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Michael Yidana Mantamia, the Principal of the College, emphasized the importance of commitment and professionalism during a matriculation ceremony for the new students. He urged them to focus on their education to become successful nurses and midwives, reminding them that the journey ahead would come with challenges. Mr. Mantamia encouraged the students to maintain a growth mindset despite potential setbacks. In a speech delivered on his behalf, Alhaji Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper East Regional Minister, advised the students to adhere to the college's rules and regulations as out lined in their matriculation oath. Dr. Salih highlighted the significant responsibilities inherent in the nursing and midwifery professions, urging students to act with maturity and a sense of purpose throughout their studies. Dr. Justice Agyenim Boateng, representing the University of Cape Coast, underscored the noble nature of the nursing and midwifery professions, which demand compassion, dedication, and expertise. Mr. Bernard Anankor, the Regional Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, cautioned the students against negative influences such as substance abuse and gambling, advising them to remain in the country to serve after completing their training.
