5.2 Magnitude Quake Strikes Liuzhou Twice in One Day

Liuzhou: A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck the south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Monday night, marking the second quake to hit the area within a single day. The tremor occurred in Liunan District of Liuzhou City at 9.44 pm local time (1344GMT), as reported by the China Earthquake Networks Center.

According to Anadolu Agency, the earthquake struck at a depth of eight kilometers (4.9 miles). There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from this latest quake. Earlier in the day, at 12.21 am (1621GMT Sunday), another 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Liuzhou.

Following the earlier earthquake, 14 buildings collapsed, and more than 7,000 residents were evacuated, as reported by state broadcaster CGTN. Emergency teams were promptly deployed to conduct rescue operations, while regional and national authorities activated Level-III and Level-IV emergency response measures.

Earlier reports indicated that two people were killed and one person was missing following the initial earthquake. The situation remains under close monitoring as authorities continue to assess the impact of the seismic activity.
