Ada-East District Kickstarts Government’s DRIP Project to Enhance Road Networks

Ada-east: The Ada-East District Assembly recently began the implementation of the government's District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), a major initiative aimed at enhancing road infrastructure to support economic and environmental goals. According to Ghana News Agency, the DRIP project was launched to provide essential road maintenance equipment to local assemblies. The assembly received various pieces of equipment, including tipper trucks, concrete mixers, wheel loaders, and motor graders. These tools will be used for routine repairs, rehabilitation, and maintenance of roads within the district. Ms. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee, the District Chief Executive of Ada East, during the equipment handover at Tortimekope, highlighted the significance of the DRIP project. She noted that it would not only improve accessibility and reduce accidents but also boost socio-economic activities across the district's 27 electoral areas. Ms. Pobee assured that the initial focus would be on feeder roads, with plans to extend mai ntenance works to major roads to enhance transport efficiency. Further, Ms. Pobee encouraged the residents to actively participate and support the project regardless of political affiliations. She emphasized the importance of community unity for the success of the project and advised residents to report any road issues to their local assembly members or to Mr. Joseph Arthur, the DRIP Coordinator for Ada-East. Nene Ackwerh Osusey, Chief of Tortimekope, also expressed his support for the project. He commented on the economic benefits expected from improved road networks, notably the potential reduction in transportation costs that have been inflated due to the previously poor state of the roads. The DRIP project is seen as a step forward in decentralizing development and addressing the infrastructural disparities in rural areas of Ghana.
