TAKORADI: Mr. Joseph C. Garbrah, Chairman for the Western and Central Regional Branch of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), has emphasized the importance of treating employees as key assets to enhance productivity and business growth. Speaking at the 21st Annual General Meeting, Exhibition, and Job Fair of the AGI's Western and Central Regional Chapter, he underscored the role of employees as partners in organizational success. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Garbrah highlighted the need for businesses to treat employees with dignity and respect to motivate them towards achieving higher business goals. He stated, "Employees are key to improving productivity in organisations. Capital alone cannot push businesses forward, so it is necessary to treat them as key assets in your business organisation." Addressing the event's theme, 'Empowering growth: Building a stronger workforce for tomorrow,' Mr. Garbrah stressed the importance of continuous training for employees to adapt to the evolving business landscape. He remarked, "Employers have a duty to shape employees' character to cope with vicissitudes of business. We must adapt to change and transfer that reality of change to our employees so they will be able to achieve extraordinary results." Mr. Seth Twum Akwaboah, CEO of the AGI, encouraged association members to engage actively in AGI activities to foster idea and knowledge exchange, aiding business community growth. He acknowledged the challenges faced by businesses in Ghana and noted the AGI's role in policy advocacy to influence business-related decisions. The event also featured Mr. Abraham Akpaglo from the Ghana Revenue Authority, who educated participants on the withholding tax regime and its compliance requirements. The job fair, supported by the Ghana Enterprises Agency, aimed to boost employment opportunities for young people by facilitating networking with potential employers.
