Ahantaman Rural Bank Enhances Blood Bank Facilities at Jubilee Catholic Children Hospital

Apowa: The Ahantaman Rural Bank Limited has recently upgraded the blood bank at the Jubilee Catholic Children Hospital in Apowa, Ahanta West Municipality, enhancing the hospital's ability to store and manage blood supplies effectively. This initiative aims to support the hospital in providing comprehensive healthcare, especially for emergency situations involving pregnant women and surgeries. According to Ghana News Agency, the bank donated essential equipment including a refrigerator, two bleeding beds, two weighing scales, a bedside locker, and a 1.5 horsepower air conditioner, all at a total cost of GHS 32,000. Mr. Benjamin Afful-Eshun, CEO of Ahantaman Rural Bank, highlighted the importance of the donation, acknowledging the board of directors for their support in this significant act of social responsibility. He emphasized the hospital's role as a top choice for medical care in the region, underlining the bank's commitment to enhancing healthcare services. Dr. Marian Afful-Eshun, the Medical Director o f Jubilee Catholic Children Hospital, addressed the challenges the hospital faced with blood storage over the past five years since its inception. She expressed relief over the new facilities, which will greatly assist in managing blood supplies for urgent medical needs. The improvements are expected to mitigate the previous necessity for patients' families to travel extensive distances to secure blood. Additionally, Mr. Nathaniel A. Mensah, Head of the laboratory at the hospital, commented on the enhanced capability for effective blood mobilization from outreach and voluntary donors, which is crucial for saving lives in the community. Reverend Father Friday Arthur-Aidoo, Diocesan Health Services Director of the Catholic Church, also conveyed his gratitude towards the bank for their consistent support to the healthcare facility.
