According to ghana news agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ibrahim recalled the launch of the National Sanitation Day in Accra on Saturday, September 6, 2025, describing it as a sign of 'a new national commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health.' He noted that Ho, known as the 'Oxygen City' because of its greenery and fresh environment, must protect this status. He stressed the need to institutionalize sanitation initiatives as a civic responsibility for every citizen, pointing out that poor sanitation is a leading cause of preventable diseases in Ghana. He asserted that a clean environment is a right and necessity for all Ghanaians.
Mr. Ibrahim further revealed that President John Dramani Mahama had instructed the establishment of Palace Sanitation Courts nationwide. These courts, based in traditional palaces, would empower chiefs to summon individuals who violated sanitation regulations. "The President has spoken; our duty is to implement. Chiefs will now have the authority to ensure that their palaces and communities remain clean and safe," Mr. Ibrahim stated.
The Minister commended the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, for his active role in supporting the initiative and urged all chiefs to accept the challenge of ensuring compliance in their areas. The chiefs attending the workshop expressed their full support for the sanitation initiative. They assured the government of their commitment to mobilizing their communities, enforcing discipline, and leveraging their influence to promote a culture of cleanliness. They emphasized that traditional leadership extends beyond preserving culture to safeguarding health, dignity, and the environment for future generations.
