Akatsi South Municipal Assembly Initiates 2025 Fee Fixing Resolution

AKATSI: The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly has launched a stakeholder engagement workshop aimed at developing a fee-fixing resolution for 2025. This initiative, which is part of the Local Governance Act, Act 936 of 2016, is designed to incorporate public feedback into the assembly's financial planning. According to Ghana News Agency, the eight-day workshop will engage a variety of stakeholders from within the municipality, including market women, transport unions, financial institutions, artisans, tourism facility operators, lotto operators, pharmaceutical companies, and opinion leaders. Mr. Kofitsey Martin Nyahe, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akatsi South, emphasized the workshop's role in integrating public opinion into the municipal assembly's decision-making process. Mr. Nyahe highlighted the segmented approach of the interactions, which are tailored to reflect diverse trade and business interests, aiming to ensure both efficiency and transparency. The program's objective is to account for the reven ues collected by the assembly and collaborate with stakeholders to establish mutually beneficial fees for 2025. "This is important because the development of the Assembly is dependent on the development of its residents, a major part of which you in the business community represent," he stated. Madam Philomena Atimu, Chairperson of the Finance and Administration Sub-Committee of the Assembly, explained that the meeting aims to foster a common understanding regarding budget and fee-fixing resolution preparation processes. The sessions will address issues affecting both business operations and the assembly, with each day focusing on specific areas of concern to find common ground for business growth. Mr. Bismark Kuyole, the Municipal Budget Analyst, expressed optimism about the workshop's potential to enhance the assembly's financial growth in 2025. He is expected to guide participants through the assembly's budget expenditures and revenue generation in recent years.
