TAKORADI: The Aseda Foundation, a pivotal institution in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Ghana, marked its 25th anniversary with a grand durbar in Takoradi. The event celebrated the foundation's contributions to youth empowerment through skill development across the nation and featured a thanksgiving service, cultural performances, and a fundraising initiative. According to Ghana News Agency, the Aseda Foundation's anniversary celebrations included a series of events leading up to the main ceremony, such as a health walk, donations, and workshops. The durbar, attended by dignitaries including the Western Regional Minister and the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, highlighted the foundation's achievements and challenges over the past quarter-century. Madam Diana Adjei, the Chief Executive Officer of Aseda Foundation, expressed gratitude for the organization's journey in providing technical and vocational training to over 5,000 young people across nine regions in Ghana. She emphasized th e foundation's mission to empower vulnerable youth with essential skills for self-reliance and dignified living in their communities. Adjei acknowledged ongoing challenges, such as accommodation and feeding for trainees from rural areas, and appealed for support from corporate entities and individuals to build hostel facilities. She also noted the establishment of a school to integrate practical and theoretical training, seeking assistance from educational stakeholders for accreditation. Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah lauded the foundation's contributions, affirming the government's commitment to supporting TVET as a means to bridge the unemployment gap and foster national growth. Partner organizations, including the Youth Employment Agency, National Youth Authority, and Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Foundation, among others, extended goodwill messages and commendations to the Aseda Foundation for its impactful work over the past 25 years.
