She highlighted President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to achieving 30 percent women's representation in leadership and discussed the affirmative action bill mandating increased female participation.
The festival underscored cultural reforms initiated by leaders like Mamaga Akua Dei II, who reduced traditional widowhood rites. Ambassador Sena Siaw-Boateng, chairperson of the Women's Day celebration, stressed that empowering women was essential for justice, peace, and prosperity, alongside calls for fair wages and innovation in service delivery.
Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli, commended the festival's focus on women and urged greater recognition of their contributions to national development. He highlighted the need to combat corruption, citing significant financial losses and urging women to support the anti-corruption fight. He also endorsed the proposed 24-hour economy, emphasizing the untapped potential of women.
Professor Christopher Mensah, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Ho Technical University, noted that addressing inequality and inclusion was crucial for national progress. The Women's Day celebration included cultural displays and tributes, affirming women's contributions to Ghana's development.
