Accra: Azumah Resources Ghana Limited says it is focused on moving forward with the development of the Black Volta Gold Mine in the Upper West and contributing to a prosperous Ghana. The milestone marks the beginning of a new era for Ghana's mining sector.
According to Ghana News Agency, Azumah Resources Ghana commended the government for ensuring that the rule of law had been fairly applied for many years in the country's extractive sector. The company expressed confidence that the government would continue in that stead, ensuring investors had confidence when investing in Ghana and ensuring that they were not subjected to arbitrary and unfair treatment.
Mr. John Mason, Spokesperson for Azumah Resources, reinforced Azumah's commitment to Ghana, commenting that Azumah Resources is committed to ensuring this project benefits Ghanaians, led by Ghanaians, with partners who are willing and able to build with them. He emphasized the company's duty to protect Ghana's resources for the benefit of all and addressed claims made by Engineers and Planners (E and P) in the press, stating that they are not supported by law or by fact.
The company highlighted its financial backing from international investors who have developed more than $10 billion of mines globally, affirming their eagerness to involve more Ghanaian companies and investors in the project. Azumah Resources expressed gratitude for the support from the government and regulatory authorities and reiterated its commitment to lawful development and transparency.
Mr. Rob Cicchini, Project Director, Azumah Resources, explained that the project's future should be in the hands of those who can deliver. He noted that a sale to E and P, without demonstrated funding capabilities, would not serve Ghana's national interest. He also pointed out that E and P had yet to provide any formal offer or demonstrate sufficient resources for the project's development.
Azumah Resources expressed disappointment over misleading public statements made by E and P and emphasized the need for international arbitration to resolve disputes, rather than media stunts. The company remains open to dialogue with stakeholders and is committed to providing accurate information and protecting its interests and the Black Volta Gold Project.
