Cape coast: A large-scale non-denominational crusade and medical outreach event, known as the 'Cape Coast for Christ Crusade,' is currently taking place in Cape Coast, aiming to impact over 30,000 people from the Central Region. The five-day event, which started on October 14, is a collaborative effort led by the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministries (CEM) and involves various ecumenical bodies in the region. According to Ghana News Agency, the crusade was inaugurated with a spirited session of worship, praises, prayers, and testimonies of healings and miracles, under the leadership of Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Senior Pastor at the Kingsway International Christian Centre in London. The event includes three nights of services held at Adisadel College Park, drawing participants from numerous surrounding towns and villages. The outreach component of the event features a significant medical initiative, with over 50 doctors from Cape Coast Metro Hospital conducting surgical procedures for about 200 individuals su ffering from conditions like goitre, hernia, and fibroid. In addition to the surgeries, more than 200 health professionals, including dentists and optometrists, have begun setting up clinics to provide screenings, treatments, and medications for various health issues. Rev Steve Mensah, the Founding Bishop of CEM and the host, alongside Bishop Richard Ampadu Duku and other clergy, are delivering sermons and motivational talks throughout the crusade. The organizers have also arranged special programs catering to Persons with Disabilities, with over 7,000 identified individuals set to receive medication support and assistive devices such as wheelchairs on October 18. Moreover, the church has distributed thousands of relief items including food, clothing, mattresses, and toiletries to over 8,000 people in need. Pastor Ashimolowo's message focused on the power of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation and deliverance from various life challenges. The initiative marks 35 years of similar crusades across the country by Pastor Mensah, who emphasized the event's purpose to demonstrate God's love without seeking material returns from the community. Bishop Ampadu Duku expressed hope that the crusade would bring a breakthrough for the city of Cape Coast.
