Central Region Education Directorate Ready for 2025 BECE with 66,765 Candidates

Cape Coast: The Central Regional Education Directorate has announced its readiness for the upcoming 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), ensuring that all necessary materials and logistics are in place to facilitate a smooth examination process.

According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Juliette Dufie Otami, the Regional Director of Education, confirmed that examination materials have already been distributed to districts and various exam centers in preparation for the exams commencing on Wednesday, June 11. A total of 66,765 candidates from both public and private schools, consisting of 33,305 males and 33,460 females, are set to participate in the exams across 237 centers in the region. Among them, 51,156 students are from public schools, while 15,609 are from private institutions.

Dr. Otami emphasized that candidates have been adequately prepared and are composed to tackle the exams. The Directorate, along with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has also trained invigilators and supervisors. Security personnel are ready to ensure safety and order at the exam centers. A regional monitoring team will collaborate with district teams to oversee the examination process.

Special attention has been given to candidates with disabilities, with all necessary logistical support provided. Dr. Otami warned against cheating, stating that any such actions could lead to severe consequences, including the revocation of certificates. She advised head teachers to leave the exam centers after presenting their students, urging them to return only when the exams are concluded.

Dr. Otami reassured candidates by comparing the BECE to regular classwork and end-of-term exams. She encouraged expectant and new mothers to participate, emphasizing that pregnancy is not a hindrance to taking the exams. Parents were advised to ensure that students are well-fed and have reduced household responsibilities to allow them to focus on their exams.
