China Vows ‘Tough’ Stance Against Illegal Drone Flight Control Systems

China: China on Monday vowed to maintain a "tough" stance against the illegal use of drone flight control systems, warning that such acts pose risks to public and national security, state media reported. The Public Security Ministry emphasized that police will continue cracking down on these activities in accordance with the law, as reported by Beijing-based Xinhua News.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry highlighted that providing services to remove no-fly zone and altitude restrictions for drone owners could be considered a criminal offense. Additionally, the ministry released information on 10 cases where individuals used technical methods to help others illegally bypass drone restrictions, including tampering with altitude limits, no-fly zones, and factory-set payload parameters to facilitate unauthorized drone flights for profit.

All suspects involved in these cases have been subjected to criminal compulsory measures by police, with ongoing investigations. Experts have warned that drones with removed altitude restrictions could intrude into civil aviation routes, potentially causing collisions with severe consequences. Furthermore, drones with disabled geographic restrictions could enter prohibited areas such as military control zones, posing a risk of state secrets being leaked.
