ACCRA: The Christ the King Catholic Church (CTK), in collaboration with the Young Christian Workers Movement (YCWM), successfully hosted a comprehensive health screening day, which included blood donation drives and various health checks, to bolster wellness within the community. According to Ghana News Agency, the event saw participation from several medical institutions including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Ridge Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Mamobi Polyclinic, Police Hospital, and the National Blood Service. These partnerships have been instrumental in providing essential health services such as eye, breast, prostate, and dental screenings to the community. Dr. Edward Kofi Boakye, a notable Urologist, highlighted the critical importance of regular health check-ups, particularly for prostate health, emphasizing early detection as a lifesaver. He urged the public to not disregard symptoms and to seek regular medical advice. Ms. Lucy Dzata, President of YCWM at CTK, spoke about the motivation behind orga nizing the health day. She remarked on the importance of making health services accessible to the parish and the broader community while promoting preventive healthcare. Ms. Dzata detailed plans for an ongoing health awareness initiative that will include regular workshops and screenings to foster a proactive approach to health within the community. Rev. Fr. Ebenezer Akesseh, the Parish Priest at CTK, commended the high turnout and the collaborative effort of the medical professionals and volunteers. He encouraged the community to continue participating in such events, highlighting the dual focus on spiritual and physical health promoted by the church. The event not only served as a platform for essential health services but also reinforced the church's role in nurturing both the physical and spiritual well-being of its community.
