Abuja: The newly appointed leadership of the ECOWAS Court of Justice visited the ECOWAS Commission to strengthen institutional ties and promote regional integration. Justice Ricardo Claudio Monteiro Gonçalves, President of the ECOWAS Court, and Vice-President Justice Sengu Mohamed Koroma met with President of the Commission, His Excellency Omar Alieu Tourey. According to Ghana News Agency, the primary focus of this meeting was to consolidate the relationship between the ECOWAS Court of Justice and the ECOWAS Commission. President Tourey expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Court's new management and congratulated them on their election. He emphasized the importance of collaborating closely to achieve community goals. President Tourey highlighted the critical role of the Court of Justice for ECOWAS citizens, describing it as the ultimate recourse for individuals dissatisfied with national court outcomes. He expressed gratitude for the Court's contributions to upholding justice within the community. Justi ce Gonçalves reaffirmed the Court's dedication to working alongside the Commission to benefit the community. "Since our election, we have engaged in numerous visits to community institutions to introduce our new leadership and strengthen collaboration. Our commitment is to work together to reinforce the Court and support regional development," he stated. Justice Koroma underscored the significance of this cooperation for the coming two years, noting that enhanced collaboration can help build a strong and united community for the benefit of citizens across Member States. This meeting is part of a series of engagements initiated by the Court's new leadership to foster closer collaboration with ECOWAS institutions and support regional integration for the community's harmonious development.
