Flower Community Ghana Donates Roses and Support to Breast Cancer Patients at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital

ACCRA: The Flower Community Ghana, a prominent non-profit organization focused on sustainable gardening and environmental conservation, has launched its "Roses for Cancer" initiative at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital's Oncology Unit. This compassionate gesture formed part of their 5th Annual Plants and Flowers Fair, aiming to uplift and support women battling breast cancer. According to Ghana News Agency, the event took place on Monday and saw the collaboration between The Flower Community Ghana and several partners, including the Pink for Africa Foundation. The organizations came together to make a significant donation that will assist patients in purchasing breast prostheses, alongside gifting each patient a rose symbolizing love and resilience. Dr. Yaw Agyemang Boafo, Convener of The Flower Community Ghana, emphasized the profound impact of flowers on emotional health at the event. "We believe that flowers have a unique ability to heal and uplift the spirit. Through this initiative, we wanted to bring jo y to the women at Korle-Bu, reminding them that they are not alone in their fight," he stated. The initiative was made possible through the support of several organizations including Knoxxi Health, Smino Gh, MGL Naturals, Delly's Juice, Opoku and Opoku Flower Farms, and Kor.le.Kour. Their contributions were pivotal in bringing this event to fruition, demonstrating the strong community support for those affected by breast cancer. The Flower Community GH also announced the dates for their upcoming Annual Plants and Flowers Fair, scheduled to be held at the University of Ghana from November 29 to December 1, 2024. The fair will not only showcase sustainable gardening practices but also celebrate the organization's 5th anniversary with a focus on community and philanthropy. Madam Matilda Abruquah, Founder of The Flower Community GH, invited the public to join the fair and experience the beauty and benefits of plants and flowers. She highlighted the fair as an opportunity to engage with plant enthusiasts and environmental advocates alike, fostering a deeper understanding of sustainable practices. The Flower Community Ghana continues its mission to harness the power of community engagement and environmental stewardship to not only beautify spaces but also support social causes, demonstrating the profound connection between nature and human well-being.
