Former NAFCO CEO and Wife Granted GHS150 Million Bail in Accra

Accra: The Accra High Court has granted GHS150 million bail to the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife. Mr. Aludiba received GHS100 million bail with six sureties, four justified with landed property, while Mrs. Faiza Seidu Wuni was granted GHS50 million bail with four sureties, three justified within the jurisdiction.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Court mandated all sureties to submit copies of their Ghana Cards to the Court Registry and report any address changes. Mr. Aludiba faces accusations of stealing and causing financial losses exceeding GHS60 million, funds intended for the Free Senior High School programme's food supply. Mrs. Wuni is on trial for allegedly laundering the stolen funds through her business, Fa-Hausa Ventures.

Presided over by Justice Audrey Kocuvi-Tay, the Court instructed both accused to report to police investigators weekly until the case concludes. They are scheduled to reappear in court on November 27, 2025. The couple denied charges of stealing, fraudulent financial loss, money laundering, dishonest receiving, and public funds dissipation. Mr. Sam-Asante, NAFCO's Finance Director and alleged accomplice, remains at large.

Mr. Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, representing the accused, referenced Article 19(2)(c) of the 1992 Constitution, emphasizing the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. He asserted his clients' compliance with the Economic and Organised Crime Office's conditions. Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, Deputy Attorney-General, did not oppose bail but highlighted the crimes' severity.

Investigations revealed GHS161,459,987.27 deposited into Fa-Hausa Ventures' account, allegedly invested for personal gain. Mr. Aludiba and Mr. Sam-Asante allegedly caused financial losses by transferring GHS69,616,226.29 to Sawtina Enterprise, linked to NAFCO's Regional Manager. Only 20% of these funds were used for legitimate supplies.

Mr. Aludiba reportedly received over GHS50 million directly, misappropriating an additional GHS10 million via transfers to his and his wife's companies. Mr. Aludiba, Mrs. Wuni, Mr. Sam-Asante, and corporate entities face 24 charges. Between 2017 and 2019, payments totaling GHS5,495,748.36 were made from NAFCO to Aludiba Enterprise, despite its non-licensed status.

In July 2022, GHS251,050 was transferred to Energy Partners Limited without services rendered to NAFCO. Further scrutiny revealed GHS4,401,831.58 paid to Mrs. Wuni's Alqarni Enterprise under false supply claims. From 2020 to 2022, Mr. Aludiba deposited GHS13,213,501.52 into Fa-Hausa Ventures' account, with funds traced back to NAFCO through Sawtina Enterprise, allegedly purchasing properties across Accra and Tamale.

The Attorney-General reported that over GHS161 million in Fa-Hausa Ventures' account was invested in financial instruments and securities for personal gain by Mr. Aludiba, Mrs. Wuni, and associates.
