Accra: The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with various industry stakeholders, is set to launch the country's first digital music streaming platform in November. This initiative, announced by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, aims to support Ghanaian musicians, film producers, and content creators by providing a dedicated medium for tracking, collecting, and distributing royalties and revenues. According to Ghana News Agency, the creation of the digital platform is a joint effort between the government and several key organizations including the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMBRO), the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), and local music producers. The platform is designed not only as a tool for financial management but also as a critical infrastructure to foster growth and offer new opportunities in the arts and creative sectors. During a recent engagement with players in the arts and creative industry in Accra, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his commitment to nurturing local talents and creating empl oyment opportunities for the youth. He outlined future government initiatives under his leadership, which include facilitating special financing and guarantee support for artists through the Development Bank of Ghana. Further, Dr. Bawumia pledged the establishment of the National Hospitality Training School aimed at enhancing professional service delivery in the tourism sector. He also highlighted the government's focus on improving tourist experiences through the prioritization of electronic visa systems, which is expected to increase foreign visitors and earnings for Ghana. Additionally, the Vice President assured stakeholders of government support in completing a new conference facility at the Ghana International Trade Fair site and introducing tax incentives for the creative industry to stimulate further growth. Dr. Bawumia also shared insights from a recent meeting with the Pope, emphasizing the importance of listening as a key leadership trait.
