Ghanaian Boxer John Laryea Prepares for Key Bout Against Alexander Mejia in USA

ACCRA: Undefeated Ghanaian boxer John Laryea has departed for the United States to prepare for his upcoming fight against Nicaraguan opponent Alexander Mejia. The bout, scheduled for November 1, 2024, at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, marks a significant opportunity for Laryea to further establish himself in the featherweight division as he eyes a world title. According to Ghana News Agency, Laryea, who holds a professional record of 13-0-1 with 11 knockouts, is accompanied by his coach, Carl Lokko. Lokko is known for his track record in developing world champions. Before leaving Ghana, Laryea expressed confidence in securing a victory against Mejia, whom he acknowledges as a formidable adversary with experience against former champions. Laryea emphasized his readiness for the fight, noting that it will be his first in the United States. He assured his supporters in Ghana of his commitment to triumph, stating that his preparation over the past eight months has positioned him well for success. Laryea also hig hlighted the crucial role of his coach in his training and strategy. The fight against Mejia will be Laryea's 14th professional bout, following his last outing in December 2023, when he defeated Isaac Dowuona in Accra. The event in Orlando will also feature other notable matches, including Chavez Barrientes versus Brandon Douglas, Deron Thompson against Malik Lewis, and Alexander Rios Vega fighting Felix Santana Jr.
