ACCRA: In a call for national solidarity, the Living Yahweh 7th Day Sabbah Assemblies has urged Ghanaian leaders to establish a National Day dedicated to donating to the less privileged. This appeal was made during the church's 2024 Annual Atonement and Charity Show Crusade, a three-day event held at Odorgonno Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region, which focused on aiding society's most vulnerable members. According to Ghana News Agency, the event, themed after a biblical passage from Genesis 50:20, saw the church distribute donations valued at GHc 972,000 to over 1,000 recipients, including orphanages, hospitals, and security services. Items donated included essential food supplies, clothing, mobility aids, and cash, underscoring the church's commitment to its Christian duty and corporate social responsibility. Apostle Philemon Okoh Agyemang, the church's General Overseer, emphasized the importance of establishing the National Day, suggesting that it should be a time for nationwide donations to vu lnerable groups. He cited religious texts to highlight the moral imperative of supporting those in need and called for political parties to ensure peace during the upcoming elections, especially to protect persons with disabilities. Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover commended Apostle Okoh Agyemang's efforts and pledged his party's commitment to peaceful elections. Glover also presented a donation of GHc100,000 from the New Patriotic Party to support the church's charitable activities, reinforcing the event's significance in promoting compassion and community support. The Annual Atonement and Charity Show Crusade, launched in 2003, continues to serve as a beacon of generosity and communal care, urging citizens and leaders alike to contribute to the welfare of the less fortunate.
