BROFOYEDURU: At a national conference aimed at addressing societal challenges, Pastor Francis Fosu emphasized the need for Ghana to cultivate a generation of intellectuals committed to integrity and holiness as a means to combat corruption. Speaking at the annual Deeper Life Campus Fellowship conference dubbed 'Great Awakening,' Pastor Fosu highlighted the pervasive issues of corruption and moral decline as significant threats to Christian faith and societal well-being. According to Ghana News Agency, Pastor Fosu, serving as the National Coordinator of the Deeper Life Campus Fellowship, addressed an audience comprised of lecturers, students, and various professionals from universities across the country. Participants engaged with topics such as occultism, gambling, and examination malpractices, which were identified as detrimental influences on youth. Pastor Fosu underscored alarming statistics, noting that over 50 percent of countries score below average on the corruption perception index, while nearly 45 p ercent of global youth perceive honesty as non-essential for success. He further stressed the urgency of adopting integrity to combat violence, identified as the leading cause of death among young people worldwide. Professor Charles Amoatey, also a pastor within the fellowship at the University of Ghana, Legon, contributed to the discourse by describing the conference as a platform for spiritual and moral rejuvenation. Prof. Amoatey emphasized the importance of this revival in empowering youth with leadership skills and a deeper understanding of influence. He encouraged young intellectuals to pursue excellence in character and service, thereby embodying the positive aspects of Christianity. In addition to spiritual guidance, Prof. Amoatey urged the youth to maintain national peace, particularly during electoral processes, cautioning against political manipulation. He also addressed the pressing issue of brain drain, calling on government intervention to retain talent within the country. The conference aimed to inspire a transformative movement among the youth, characterized by integrity and societal contribution.
