Tema: Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye Kulono, the Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), has stated that the authority was ready to deepen its cordial relationship with the media.
According to Ghana News Agency, Brigadier General Kulono made these remarks when executives of the Tema Regional Branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) visited him. He commended the enduring cordial relationship between the GPHA and the media and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to advance the common goal of accurate information dissemination and public education.
Brigadier General Kulono assured that the GPHA was open to considering requests from the Association for training programs aimed at enhancing journalists' professional capacity in maritime and port reportage. He encouraged journalists to always verify facts with the institution before publishing, to ensure balanced and factual reporting.
Mr. Michael Dewornu, the GJA Tema Regional Chairperson, who led the delegation, expressed the Association's commitment to strengthening collaboration with GPHA, especially in public education and accurate reportage on port and maritime industry issues. He acknowledged the media's critical role as partners in development and appealed to the GPHA management to support the association's efforts in rolling out maritime and port capacity-building programs for journalists, to better understand the sector and report accurately.
Mr. Dewornu also mentioned that the Tema GJA was developing a strong welfare system alongside other initiatives to enhance their presence in the area.
