‘Is God NDC or NPP’ Book Launched in Ghana to Inform Election Decisions

ACCRA: The Independent Non-Denominational Council, Ghana (INDeC-Ghana), has marked its fifth anniversary with the launch of a book titled 'Is God NDC or NPP'. The book aims to guide Ghanaians, particularly Christians, in making informed decisions during elections. The 30-page publication offers insights into the ideologies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), alongside profiles of their leaders since the establishment of the Fourth Republican Constitution. According to Ghana News Agency, the book is authored by Rev Professor Clement Owusu Sarpong, Chairman of INDeC-Ghana, President of Word Alive Bible College, and Head Pastor of Word Alive Revival Church. In an interview, Rev Prof Owusu Sarpong emphasized that God is not democratic, asserting, "God is, at best, theocratic. We should therefore take God out of our partisan politics. God does not choose democratic political leaders, that duty is left to voters in a democracy to choose." Rev Prof Owusu Sarpong explained t hat God transcends political affiliations, stating, "God is not NDC or NPP. The God of Ghana is a Ghanaian who is above our partisan politics. He therefore casts the last vote for whoever the majority chooses." He expressed hope that Ghanaians will make wise choices, noting that God supports any candidate chosen by the people. The book, described by Rev Prof Owusu Sarpong as "humorous," encourages Ghanaians, especially politicians, to step back from intense political activities and find joy in reading. INDeC-Ghana, founded in 2019, aims to amplify the voices of pastors in smaller churches. During the event, Mr. Yahya Kassim Atta, NPP parliamentary candidate for Amasaman, urged voters to support him and Dr. Bawumia for a promising future. In a message read on his behalf, Mr. Atta stated, "Make no mistake…look nowhere when you get to the voting centre and vote Yahya Kassim Atta and Dr Bawumia." He emphasized that the election is about development rather than party or religious affiliations, pledging to serve diligently if elected.
