Abutia Teti: Rev. Chief Superintendent of Prisons (CSP), George Akuamuah-Boateng (rtd), Ho East Presbytery Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), emphasized to Christians that Jesus Christ provides answers to every challenge they encounter. He reminded them that their savior is always close during difficult times.
According to Ghana News Agency, Rev. CSP Akuamuah-Boateng delivered this message during a thanksgiving service marking the conclusion of the 15th Synod of the Ho East Presbytery of the EPCG in Abutia Teti, located in the Ho West District of the Volta region. The sermon, themed 'Sheep and Shepherd,' drew from biblical passages including Acts 9:36 - 43, Revelation 7:9 - 17, and John 10:22 - 30.
Rev. CSP Akuamuah-Boateng encouraged Christians to remain steadfast and focused on Jesus Christ amid tribulations, urging leaders, particularly Christian leaders, to adopt Jesus Christ's 'servant leadership style.' He defined a true leader as one who prioritizes the comfort of their followers.
He further advised leaders to be humble, obedient, selfless, and attentive to those they lead. He used the analogy of a Palestinian shepherd's care for sheep to contrast with a Fulani herdsman's treatment of cattle.
Turning to the Synod theme, 'Care for Creation: Task and Mission of the Church,' Rev. CSP Akuamuah-Boateng highlighted the Church's duty to oppose environmental destruction and degradation in the country. He called for bold advocacy against environmental degradation and the promotion of sustainability policies.
The Synod Moderator stated that the Church has a unique role in promoting environmental care by mobilizing members and networks to address environmental challenges and encourage sustainable practices.
Mr. Profer Francis Dusey, Ho West District Chief Executive, urged the Church to continue its mission of nurturing law-abiding citizens. He expressed concern over the damage being done to the Kalakpa Game Reserve by nearby communities, warning them to cease such activities. He attributed the erratic rainfall patterns in the area to the destruction of the Reserve.
Togbe Abutia Kodzo Gidi V, Paramount Chief and President of Abutia Traditional Area, praised the Church for its development-oriented approach and harmonious relationship with traditional authorities.
An appeal for funds to construct a fence wall around the Presbytery Secretariat successfully raised over GHS37,000.
