Keta: Kekeli Consults-Ke, a legal consultancy group in the Volta Region, has launched a Community Legal Clinic Series programme at Keta Senior High School (Ketasco) to educate community members on the roles of state institutions in Ghana’s justice delivery system. The initiative aims to benefit all 16 regions in Ghana by providing a platform for state institutions like the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and the Ghana Police Service to educate the public on various legal topics.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Gilbert Korbla Keklie, the Chief Executive Officer of Kekeli Consults-Ke and the initiator of the programme, stated during the launch that another objective was to educate the public on court procedures. He emphasized that in accordance with Article 125 of the 1992 Constitution, the Judicial Service would use this platform to promote the LEAD Justice initiative, with a comprehensive action plan expected to be available
for stakeholders by the end of the year.
Mr. Keklie also noted that the clinic offered an opportunity to enlighten the public on how complaints against lawyers are handled by the Ghana Bar Association and the General Legal Counsel. He appealed to the public to donate and solicit financial support from various stakeholders, philanthropists, corporate entities, and individuals to ensure the initiative benefits all regions of the country.
Furthermore, he mentioned that they are in discussions with a legal firm to extend their services to Anloland, specifically Tegbi in the Anloga district of the Volta Region, for courtroom advocacy and limited pro bono services.
