Accra: Mr. Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ketu North, announced that his persistent efforts to enhance infrastructure at the Afife Senior High Technical School (ASSETS) are beginning to show positive results. Over recent months, Mr. Agbana has actively engaged with the Minister of Education, administrators of the GETFund, the Ghana Education Service, and other relevant stakeholders to address the school's infrastructure challenges.
According to Ghana News Agency, these efforts have led to a commitment from the GETFund to embark on significant projects at ASSETS. The planned developments include the construction of a two-storey girls' dormitory with a courtyard, a two-storey boys' dormitory with a courtyard, a two-storey administration and library block, and two 12-seater toilet facilities. The GETFund has formally communicated with the Volta Regional Minister to commence the procurement process for these initiatives.
Additionally, Mr. Agbana shared that the GETFund plans to re-award contracts for two previously abandoned classroom blocks at ASSETS, with procurement anticipated to conclude by the end of the month to facilitate the resumption of construction work. He also mentioned ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Education to transform ASSETS into a full boarding institution starting next academic year, which he believes will significantly enhance teaching and learning conditions.
The MP reiterated his dedication to improving the infrastructure of all four senior high schools within the Ketu North constituency and noted that further critical projects are under negotiation, with announcements to follow once finalized.
