Men Urged to Prioritise Personal Financial Planning for Independence

Madina Estate: The Men's Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Faith Congregation, Madina Estate, has concluded its Men's Week celebration with a strong message urging members to focus on personal financial planning to ensure secure and stable family lives. The emphasis was placed on achieving financial independence through early and sound investment decisions.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Paul Mantey, Managing Director of EDC Investment Limited and a member of the Ecobank Group, provided this advice during an interview at the event. The celebration, themed 'Celebrating Our Heritage, Persisting in Mission - Men, Go Labour On,' gathered various church groups, including the Women's Fellowship. Mr. Mantey praised the Men's Ministry for selecting a strategic and relevant topic that resonated across demographics within the church, highlighting the crucial role of financial literacy in everyday life.

Mr. Mantey urged men to commit to becoming financially independent to secure the future of their dependents. He outlined four key principles: making the decision to be financially independent, planning one's finances, paying oneself first and investing windfalls, and building a system that generates passive income. He noted that salaries alone were insufficient, describing them as 'a medicine for managing poverty but not curing it,' and stressed that while not everyone could run a business, everyone could and must invest. He also highlighted the importance of financial empowerment and called for continuous education in financial literacy to uplift society.

Mr. Emmanuel Okomeng, President of the Men's Fellowship, encouraged men to embrace Christianity wholeheartedly while also prioritising their health. He added that men, as leaders in society, should uphold righteousness, truthfulness, and love. Rev. Robert Annan, Associate Minister of the Church, urged men to stay steadfast in their faith and overcome life's challenges for the sake of Christ's kingdom. He emphasized that the primary duty of a man, as head of the home, was to attain salvation and live a Christ-centered life, assuring that their commitment to the Lord would never be in vain.

As part of the event, four elderly members-three men aged 92, 89, and 85, and a woman aged 84-were honoured by the Men's Fellowship for their dedication and regular attendance at church.
