Tema: The Methodist Church of Ghana, Tema Diocese, has successfully hosted its inaugural lectures aimed at honoring the contributions of notable figures in the church, specifically within the Tema Diocese. The event focused on the theme 'Growing into Christian Maturity, Strengthening Church Structures at the Society Level for Growth.'

According to Ghana News Agency, the lecture series, named 'The Rt. Rev. Joseph Yedu Bannerman, Rt. Rev. Dr Seth Aryee, and Brother Emmanuel Nii Laryea Lectures,' was established to honor Mr. Emmanuel Nii Laryea, the first lay chairman of the Tema Diocese, for his significant contributions to the church's growth in the region. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Connexional Lay Movement Council to recognize Mr. S.H. Amissah, the first Vice President of the Methodist Church Ghana, alongside other distinguished personalities across various dioceses.

Professor Kwame Adom-Frimpong, Chairman of the General Directorate of Finance and Development of the Methodist Church Ghana, emphasized the importance of growing into Christian maturity, which he described as a process of developing faith, understanding, and character through Jesus Christ. He highlighted that such growth is vital for Christians to lead lives that are pleasing and effective in serving God, involving a deeper relationship with God and an enhanced understanding of His Word.

Prof. Adom-Frimpong elaborated on the church structure, which comprises people, programs, and systems, working in synergy to fulfill the church's mission and serve the community. He explained that these structures delineate operational roles and responsibilities, ensuring the church functions smoothly and remains mission-focused.

He further noted that church growth could manifest in various forms, such as increased membership, a vibrant community, and deepening spiritual growth among individuals. Prof. Adom-Frimpong stressed that growth is not solely about numbers but also about the quality of engagement and faith expansion within the congregation.

In his address, Prof. Adom-Frimpong encouraged churches to embrace technology, foster an inclusive culture, and offer mentorship, particularly to young people, to enhance church growth. He also underscored the importance of clear leadership and operational efficiency in achieving the church's goals and purpose.

The Right Reverend Albert Ofoe Wright, Acting Managing Director of the Methodist Book Depot Limited, urged Christians to dedicate themselves to serving God, their nation, and society. He called for intentional care and collaboration in fulfilling Christian responsibilities.

Mr. Emmanuel Nii Laryea, the first Lay Chairman of the Tema Methodist Diocese, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and encouraged Christians to work diligently in their faith without hesitation.
