Tamale: Ms Antoinette Kwofie, the Chief Finance Officer of MTN Ghana, has emphasised the crucial roles of self-discovery and resilience in building lasting legacies. Delivering a message to more than 3,000 students at the 10th anniversary of the Youth Empowerment Summit in Tamale, she encouraged the students to cultivate depth and understanding of their career paths, which were essential qualities for navigating the challenges and accelerating personal growth.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Summit was on the theme: 'Amplifying Youth Voices, Building Legacies.' As part of its commitment to youth development, the telecommunications service provider introduced the MTN Skills Academy, a digital learning platform designed to equip young people with future-ready skills. Students were encouraged to use the platform's career guidance tools to make informed decisions about their career paths.
The summit brought together educators, community leaders, and young people, united in the belief that investing in the youth is critical to shaping Ghana's future. MTN Ghana has supported the summit in Tamale for eight years, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to youth empowerment.
Ms Kwofie urged the youth not to underestimate the lessons learned in their current stage of life, stressing that a strong work ethic, rather than one's background, was the true determinant of future success. Drawing from her own life, Ms. Kwofie advised the students to find joy in their journey and resist the temptation to rush through life.
She challenged them to stay true to themselves, remain grounded in their roots, and resist peer pressure. 'Know thyself, know where you are coming from, do not ever forget your background and the lessons that you have been taught at home. Don't lose yourself due to the pressures of the world around you,' she said. 'Stay true to your values, take care of your health and let your inner moral compass guide your choices.'
Ms. Kwofie highlighted the importance of belief and moral guidance, cautioning that ignoring one's inner compass could lead to destruction. In celebration of the summit's 10th anniversary, she challenged the youth to reflect on their future, asking; 'what story will you write for yourself in the next ten years? What impact will you leave for your family, your community and your country?' 'Ghana depends on you,' she added.
