NABDAM: In a bid to ensure peaceful elections, the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) in Nabdam District has conducted an interfaith engagement involving Christian and Muslim communities. The initiative saw active participation from five executives of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) and NCCE staff, who met with 12 groups, including youth, women, and religious organizations across various communities. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joachim Elbazer, the Nabdam District Director of the NCCE, addressed the participants, stressing the importance of fostering peace before, during, and after the elections. He underscored the inherent rejection of violence by faith organizations and their pivotal role in promoting unity and understanding within the community. Mr. Elbazer also warned against the monetization of politics and the propagation of fake news, which could undermine democratic principles. Mr. Tiwol Emmanuel, Chairman of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, spoke to Christians at Fou ntain Gate Chapel in Zanlerigu, advising them to be wary of politicians attempting to influence their votes with financial incentives. He emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and making informed electoral decisions to hold leaders accountable. At the Nangodi Mosque, Mr. Scort Made, a Civic Education Officer, encouraged Muslim leaders and community members to advocate for a peaceful electoral environment. He highlighted the necessity of cross-faith collaboration to facilitate a democratic process. Madam Fati Mohammed, Deputy District Director of the NCCE, highlighted the significance of religious tolerance and respect among different faith organizations. She noted that peaceful coexistence is crucial for harmony, especially with the high stakes of the upcoming elections, where all political parties seek power. She advocated for faith organizations to champion peace for sustainable development in the country.
