NCCE Engages Yunyoo-Nasuan Youth to Foster Peace and Social Cohesion

YUNYOO-NASUAN: The Yunyoo-Nasuan District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has taken proactive steps to engage the district's youth in efforts aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion. This initiative also seeks to establish community-based mechanisms to counter violent extremism and arms proliferation within the region. According to Ghana News Agency, the engagement event took place in Jimbale, involving representatives from various youth groups, including the Youth Parliament, Konkomba Youth Association, Mamprugu Youth Association, and Bimoba Youth Associations. Reverend Mathew Yosah, Head Pastor of the Assemblies of God Church in Jimbale, served as a resource person, delivering a discourse on peaceful coexistence and inter-faith tolerance. He encouraged the youth to embrace differing views, accept diverse opinions, and collaborate for societal advancement, while cautioning against involvement in electoral violence. Mr. Alhassan Yidana, District Officer from the Nation al Intelligence Bureau, addressed the issue of violent extremism, educating participants on strategies to resist the allure of extremist groups. Additionally, Inspector John Asiedu, representing the local police, urged the youth to resist any attempts by groups seeking to incite unrest before, during, and after the December elections. The engagement concluded with a symbolic peace pact signed by the youth, committing to maintain peace within the district.
