Keta: The youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Keta is set to host peace and unity games aiming to foster peaceful coexistence among local youth ahead of the upcoming general elections. The games are a strategic move to mitigate tensions and promote harmony leading up to the December 7 polls. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Edem Kpodo, the NDC Youth Organiser in Keta, emphasized the importance of creating awareness about peaceful co-existence during the election period. He noted that the games are designed to bring youth together under a common goal of peace, countering potential influences from politicians who might incite violence. The initiative underscores NDC's commitment to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, leveraging sports as a unifying tool. The games will take place across 22 electoral areas in Keta, organized into six groups, with events hosted at venues including Ketasco, Vodza RC park, Anlo-Afiadenyigba, Abor, and Tsiame. Activities will feature football, sack races, vol leyball, and indoor games, encouraging participation from both sexes. The event is open to all political affiliations, not just NDC members. Mr. Gabriel Dzikunu, the Assembly Member for Keta Central Electoral Area, and Mr. Wilson Tonyewonya, both members of the organizing committee, have urged broad participation from the community. The competition began on Sunday, October 27, with the intent of unifying the community in a peaceful electoral process. The Keta parliamentary seat will see competition among four candidates: the incumbent Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpe from NDC, Mr. Goldberg-Grimm Hope Lekettey from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Yayra Kwashie Kwaku from the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), and Mr. Stanley Dugah, an independent candidate. The peace games aim to set a positive tone for the electoral contest among these candidates.
