Oti YEA Provides Start-Up Kits to 200 Youth After Skill Training

KRACHI EAST: The Oti Regional Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has equipped 200 young individuals with start-up kits following their successful completion of a six-month intensive skill training program. This initiative, conducted across eight Municipalities and Districts in the region, aims to enhance employability and foster entrepreneurship among the youth. According to Ghana News Agency, the beneficiaries received training in ten different trade areas, including carpentry, plumbing, beauty care, steel work, electrical installation, auto mechanics, plaster of Paris (POP) works, glazing works, painting, and hairdressing. The distribution of start-up kits marks a significant step in empowering these individuals to establish themselves and contribute to job creation. Mr. David Nkanbonam, the Regional Director of YEA, acknowledged the dedication of the trainees and emphasized the agency's commitment to equipping young people with marketable skills. He urged the beneficiaries to leverage their training and resou rces to create opportunities for themselves and participate actively in nation-building efforts. Deputy Superintendent of Prison (Rtd), Mr. Daniel Machator, the Oti Regional Minister, praised the YEA for its role in providing sustainable employment solutions for the youth. Speaking at the ceremony held at the agency's forecourt in Krachi East Municipality, he underscored the importance of skilled youth in national development and reiterated the government's commitment to supporting youth empowerment initiatives. Mr. Machator highlighted the government's investment in youth development, particularly in economic and financial growth sectors. He noted the operationalization of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training system as part of the government's vision to drive societal transformation and progress. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government and YEA for the support provided, acknowledging the impact of the training and start-up kits on their futures.
