Kumasi: The Anti-Robbery Unit of the Ghana Police Service has successfully foiled an armed robbery attempt, apprehending four suspects and seizing a cache of weapons in the process. According to Ghana News Agency, the operation took place when officers from the Konongo Divisional Taskforce intercepted a Nissan Urvan bus after receiving credible intelligence about the impending crime. The vehicle, bearing the registration number AS 4353 -15, was stopped, and its occupants were arrested on suspicion of planning a robbery. The suspects, identified as Shadrack Anartey, Emmanuel Agyei Donkor, Abu Ali, and Abubakar Buba, were found in possession of two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and 86 rounds of ammunition, which were concealed in a specially designed compartment of the bus. The police report detailed that the arrests occurred around 1900 hours on October 13, 2024, following a tip-off about the suspects' movements and intentions. "The team intercepted the vehicle driven by Anartey with Donkor, Ali of Fulani extraction, and Buba, a Nigerian, on board," the report stated. The swift action of the police not only prevented a potentially violent robbery but also led to the capture of dangerous weapons. Currently, Anartey, Donkor, Ali, and Buba are assisting the police with their investigations. They are expected to be arraigned soon as the authorities continue to probe deeper into the incident and determine if there are other accomplices at large.
