President of Republic Evaluates Environmental Crisis in Kelibia and Wadi El-Hjar’s Catastrophic State

Kelibia: During an unannounced visit early Thursday morning, President Kas Saed assessed the deteriorating environmental conditions at Wadi El-Hjar in the Kelibia delegation, part of the Nabeul governorate. The visit highlighted the severe ecological degradation, with the area now functioning as a dumping ground for waste and contaminated water from nearby factories.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, Member of Parliament Fadel Ben Turkia, representing the Kelibia and Hammam Al-Ghazaz delegations, pointed out that during the President's visit to Kelibia, particularly to Wadi El-Hjar, he became aware of the disastrous environmental situation. The MP reported that the area has become an alarming environmental issue, with its waters flowing directly into Ain Grenz Beach. The beach is now at risk of becoming a no-swim zone due to the catastrophic environmental conditions.

Ben Turkia emphasized the severity of the situation, noting that it poses a significant threat to the region, which is renowned as one of Tunisia's most beautiful tourist destinations. The environmental degradation at Wadi El-Hjar has sparked concerns about the potential impacts on tourism and public health, underscoring the urgent need for intervention to address the pollution and safeguard the area's natural beauty.
