Promasidor Ghana Celebrates 25 Years with the Donation of Nine Borehole Facilities to Communities

Accra: As part of the celebrations marking Promasidor Ghana's 25th anniversary, nine communities across various regions in Ghana have been gifted borehole facilities to aid in accessing clean drinking water. The initiative, conducted under the company's popular brands, Cowbell and Onga, is part of a broader community impact strategy aimed at enhancing the quality of life and addressing critical societal needs. According to Ghana News Agency, the boreholes were distributed across the Northern, Upper East, Volta, Eastern, and Oti Regions. A mechanized borehole was specifically installed at Tolon Senior High School in the Northern region. Other communities benefiting from this initiative include Kayera, Praprabida, and Akim Awisa in the Eastern region; Adoman, Yaborae, and Gyanekrom in the Oti region; Abutia-Kloe in the Volta region; and Kasongo-Kubogo in the Upper East region, which received boreholes fitted with hand pumps. The project is a part of the Promasidor Community Impact Drive (PCID), which focuses on supporting sustainable projects that foster social change. The initiative targets communities lacking access to safe drinking water, ensuring they have a reliable source of clean water, which is fundamental for health and socio-economic development. Mr. Abiodun Ayodeji, Promasidor's Commercial Director, emphasized the company's commitment to improving access to clean water to enhance the well-being of Ghanaian societies and contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal six - Availability and Sustainable Management of Water and Sanitation for All. "From 2019 till date, we have supported more than 33 communities in Ghana with access to portable water," Mr. Ayodeji stated. He further noted the impact of such initiatives on health, education, and the socio-economic status of the communities, particularly affecting women and children. Mr. Robel Wamisho, Programme Manager for Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) at World Vision Ghana, highlighted the significance of the new water supply projec ts. He remarked on the importance of partnerships in maximizing the impact of sustainable WASH projects and expressed gratitude towards Promasidor Ghana Ltd for their substantial support. A community representative, Ms. Belinda Kumatu, a Senior Enrolled Nurse at the Praprabebida CHPS Compound, expressed gratitude on behalf of her community. She pledged to maintain the facility well to ensure its longevity and continued benefit to all community members.
