Sekondi NMTC Introduces Four New Bachelor’s Programs to Meet Healthcare Needs

SEKONDI: The Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC) in Sekondi is set to launch four new Bachelor of Science programs aimed at addressing contemporary healthcare challenges. This initiative, announced by Alhaji Abdul-Karim Kwame Boakye-Yiadom, the college's principal, seeks to enhance specialization in critical care nursing, peri-operative nursing, midwifery with neonatology, and general nursing. According to Ghana News Agency, the announcement was made during a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the institution. Alhaji Boakye-Yiadom emphasized the college's commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education, highlighting the need for specialization in response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He stated that there is an increasing demand for skilled professionals who can provide specialized care, and the institution aims to equip graduates with these vital competencies. The principal noted that the college has consistently achieved high success rates in both internal and ex ternal examinations, reflecting the dedication of its faculty and students. The NMTC aspires to become a benchmark for training within the African region. Acknowledging the contributions of the college's alumni, Alhaji Boakye-Yiadom encouraged them to play an active role in the college's ongoing development through mentorship and advocacy. The NMTC, established in 1954 on a former military base used during World War II, has developed into a leading institution for nursing and midwifery education.
