STMA Increases Salaries of IGF Staff by 10%

Sekondi: The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has increased the salaries of its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) revenue collectors by 10 percent. Mr. Frederick F. Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), announced this salary increment to provide relief to the staff and encourage them to enhance the Assembly's revenue performance.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Faidoo disclosed the increment during his sessional address at the opening of a two-day Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, held in Sekondi. During his initial staff meeting upon taking office, Mr. Faidoo recognized the necessity for a salary review for the Assembly's IGF staff and initiated discussions with the Coordinating Director, Finance Officer, and Human Resources Manager, leading to this outcome.

The MCE expressed confidence that the salary increase would motivate staff to excel in revenue collection, which is vital for the Assembly's developmental projects. On matters of security, Mr. Faidoo noted that the Metropolis remains largely peaceful, with only isolated petty thefts and minor offences. He assured that the Metropolitan Security Council, which he chairs, would continue to maintain peace proactively.

In agriculture, Mr. Faidoo highlighted the Assembly's efforts in educating farmers on good agricultural practices to boost productivity and ensure food security through home and farm visits. Regarding sanitation, he emphasized the Assembly's commitment to securing financial support for modernizing waste management and improving sanitary conditions, mentioning the procurement of sanitation tools for use in electoral areas.

In education, the MCE announced a collaboration with Tullow Ghana to establish a scholarship scheme for deserving students. He also provided updates on ongoing projects, urging Assembly members to cooperate in bringing development to their communities.

Mr. Patrick Brempoh, the Presiding Member for the STMA, recognized the Assembly's progress in fostering development across local economic sectors. He encouraged members to support management's efforts and contribute innovative ideas for a more prosperous metropolis.
