Tamale: The Tamale Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (CCW) has successfully concluded its first ever summit, focusing on enhancing unity and collaboration among various women groups within the Archdiocese to build a stronger women's apostolate. According to Ghana News Agency, the four-day event, themed "Moving Together in Unity in Diversity with Strength in the Lord Towards a Synodal Church: The Role of the Catholic Woman", featured a series of activities including healing and deliverance services, workshops on the Catholic Church's social teachings, mentorship, networking opportunities, and a public procession through key streets of Tamale advocating for peace in the upcoming general election. Dame Cecilia Asobayire, National President of the Council of Catholic Women, highlighted the summit's goal to foster mutual unity, peace, and togetherness. She emphasized the importance of leveraging the unique talents, charisma, gifts, and competencies of the women to fortify the church. 'We have a common missi on. We are called to spread the gospel. We are all missionaries," she stated, urging participants to commit to fostering relationships and serving their groups rooted in love and service. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, Most Reverend Philip Naameh, represented by Very Reverend Father Hilary Pogbeyir, Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Tamale, called upon the CCW to assist in retaining the Catholic identity and faith among women. He stressed the importance of involving young girls and registering all women groups in the church to promote their holistic growth and development. Vice President of the Tamale Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, Mrs. Clara Lamisi Weobong, encouraged active participation in parish activities to significantly contribute to the Archdiocese's development. Meanwhile, Mr. Lawrence Karbo, Vice Chairman of the Tamale Archdiocesan Laity Council, in his goodwill message, praised the CCW for their efforts in organizing the summit. The event also saw participation from e xternal groups, with Madam Cecilia Asiedu, Methodist Women's Fellowship Diocesan Chairperson of Tamale, urging the CCW to remain bold and steadfast in their activities to foster both spiritual and physical growth of the Catholic Church. The opening ceremony was led by Sir Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, former Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, with Dame Anna-Maria Fati Paul, a Gender Specialist, serving as the Co-chair.
