Thousands Gather in Volta to Honor Dr. Felix Semavor, Distinguished Entrepreneur and Philanthropist

SHIA: The small border community of Shia in the Ho Municipality of the Volta Region recently witnessed an immense gathering at the funeral of Dr. Felix Semavor, a revered entrepreneur and philanthropist. The event, held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, saw thousands of attendees from various sectors, including government officials, politicians, and corporate leaders, come to pay their final respects. According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Semavor, who passed away earlier this year, was a prominent figure in Ghana's transport and education sectors. He founded the Kingdom Transport Services Limited and Kings University College, significantly impacting both industries. The funeral, which lasted three days, brought an economic surge to Shia, with local businesses experiencing heightened activity and the regional capital's transport station unusually quiet due to the influx of visitors to the community. Dr. Semavor's philanthropic efforts were highlighted throughout the tributes, particularly his su stained support for the Shia Senior High School, which he helped maintain until it was absorbed by the government. Various speakers, including heads of the local assembly and past and present officials, commended his contributions to the development of transport and infrastructure in the Volta region. Prominent figures such as Mr. Fifi Kwetey, the General Secretary of the NDC, led a large delegation to the event, celebrating Dr. Semavor's national contributions, notably his role in developing the rapid bus transit system in the national capital. Dr. Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, along with chiefs from the Asogli State, were also in attendance to honor his memory. Dr. Semavor's personal and professional journey was also recounted. Born in 1958 in Shia, he traveled across West Africa and the UK for education and professional growth, achieving a CIMA certification in 1988. His career included significant roles at Price Waterhouse Coopers and Shell Ghana, where he became the first African Financial Director. Later, he diversified his business into the hospitality and real estate sectors and established the Kingdom Group Ghana Limited. His humanitarian efforts included the founding of the Kingdom of God Foundation with his wife, Janet, supporting underprivileged students and various community groups across West Africa. Dr. Semavor is survived by his wife and five sons, who are committed to continuing his legacy and charitable works. The funeral concluded with Dr. Semavor's burial in a private mausoleum at his residence in Shia, leaving a lasting legacy of generosity and service in the region.
