UG Business School Triumphs in Tertiary Business Challenge

ACCRA: The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has emerged victorious in the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC), securing its first win with an impressive score of 86 points. The competition, which showcased the intellectual prowess of some of Ghana's top business schools, concluded with UGBS outperforming other finalists including the defending champions, University of Education Business School, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Business School. According to Ghana News Agency, the intense contest was organized by Graphic Business and featured a five-round format held at the GNAT Hall in Accra. Each participating institution was represented by four students who tackled questions and pitched business ideas focused on addressing the pressing issue of illegal mining. The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology secured second place with 73.5 points, while the University of Education Business School finished third with 72.7 points. Mr. Ato Afful, Managing Director of Graphic Communications, emphasized the competition's goal of enhancing financial literacy among tertiary students in Ghana. He noted that the challenge was designed to evaluate the students' problem-solving abilities, a skill highly valued in modern industries worldwide. Mr. Afful encouraged students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, even in traditional employment roles, and to use insights gained from the competition to further their business ambitions. The event also featured remarks from Mr. Osie Adjaye-Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), who highlighted the competition's role in identifying and nurturing future business leaders. Mr. Adjaye-Gyamfi urged students to consider pursuing degrees in various business disciplines, including accounting and financing, to prepare them for future challenges. Additionally, Mr. Derrich Eyram, a representative from Compu Ghana, extended his best wishes to all participants for their future endeavors, underscoring the competition's impact on fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation among the students.
