Accra: Prof Hugh Keku Aryee, the Vanuatu Trade Commissioner to Ghana, has announced an initiative by the Commission to train Africans in artificial intelligence (AI) to address pressing environmental, economic, and social challenges. This training aims to equip a new generation of professionals, including farmers, with the technological tools needed to enhance soil health monitoring, predict rainfall, and improve agricultural yields sustainably.
According to Ghana News Agency, Prof Aryee made these remarks at the 6th Annual Conference of the Meridian Presbytery Men's Fellowship of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG). The event centered around the theme: 'Care for God's creation; the Role of Christian Men as Agents of Change in the Church.' Prof Aryee emphasized that true stewardship involves empowering people with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive in today's world. This aligns with the Republic of Vanuatu's philosophy of 'work to live, not live to work,' fostering community-based environmental stewardship and sustainable practices.
Prof Aryee highlighted the Trade Commission's commitment to driving change through AI training, enabling individuals to leverage technology in business, agriculture, and environmental sectors. He announced a generous offer to sponsor AI training for the entire church, valued at USD $250 per trainee, at no cost to participants.
The initiative is part of the Vanuatu Trade Commission's AKL Lumi Project, which promotes economic independence and intra-African trade through a digital currency backed by gold. This currency, known as 'Hanypay,' facilitates secure trade, supporting sustainable economic systems and ensuring fair trade practices.
Prof Aryee further expressed the Commission's readiness to support any initiatives by the Men's Fellowship of the EPCG, integrating them into a global project database to connect with partners worldwide. These efforts aim to empower the Church as a practical agent of societal change, in alignment with the biblical mandate to steward and care for the earth's resources.
The Vanuatu Trade Commission in Ghana continues to build sustainable trade and investment connections between Vanuatu, Africa, and the global market, while promoting eco-friendly economic growth. The Republic of Vanuatu, a Pacific Island nation, is renowned for its commitment to happiness and environmental preservation.
