WUSC Project-INVEST Empowers 100 Women in Non-Traditional Trades

Sekondi: Mr. Eric Kofi Ansah, the Human Resource Manager for the Justmoh Group of Companies, has emphasized the importance of combining talent with good character for success in the workforce. He addressed this during the graduation ceremony of the World University Services of Canada (WUSC) project-INVEST, which celebrated 100 female apprentices trained in non-traditional trades.

According to Ghana News Agency, the ceremony, organized by the Ghana Chamber of Construction, highlighted the achievements of women trained in areas such as welding and fabrication, computer hardware and programming, electrical and solar installations, and automobiles. Mr. Ansah, who chaired the event, encouraged the graduates to embody humility, honesty, and faithfulness in their professional journeys. He stressed that women have also proven their capabilities in these fields and should not be limited by gender stereotypes or myths.

Mr. Elvis Appiah-Kubi, the Director of the WUSC project, remarked that this graduation marks the conclusion of a significant effort to break barriers for women in male-dominated industries. He urged state actors to focus on developing female skills to create employment opportunities and promote self-empowerment and independence.

Mr. Emmanuel Cherry, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Construction, encouraged the graduates to utilize their newfound skills to transform their futures. He urged them to actively apply their knowledge for personal and professional growth, rather than becoming idle.

The Takoradi Technical Institute, Sekondi-Takoradi Technical Institute, and Kansa Motors received recognition from the Chamber for their effective participation in the training process. Additionally, some graduates were provided with tools to commence their careers.
