Electoral campaign required in constituencies abroad even if single candidate (Bouasker)

President of the Independent High Authority for Elections (French: ISIE) Farouk Bouasker said the Tunisian law requires the organisation of an electoral campaign in constituencies abroad even if a single candidate is running.

The electoral campaign abroad began Wednesday, Bouasker told TAP on the sidelines of a study day held Thursday by the authority in Tunis on the theme “Election Offences and the Public Prosecutor’s Role.” It will take place in three constituencies namely, France 2, France 3 and Italy.

Candidates running in these constituencies are required to hold electoral campaigns and outline their electoral platforms on December 15, 16 and 17.

“It is absurd candidates are elected to parliament with fewer votes than those as part of sponsorship,” he added.
