Unit Committee Members in Collaboration with Municipal Assembly to Tackle Madina Clean-Up Initiative

Madina: The National Association of Unit Committee Members of Ghana (NAUCMG), in collaboration with the La Nkwantang Madina Municipal Assembly, has announced a community-wide clean-up exercise slated for May 31, 2025, in Madina. Participants are expected to gather at Madina Zongo Junction by 7:00 AM to commence the clean-up operation.

According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative aims to foster a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents. The exercise is structured with several key objectives, including a massive clean-up operation across Madina to promote effective waste management. The event will also serve to raise environmental awareness, educating the community on environmental conservation, and fostering a community spirit that encourages collective responsibility for a cleaner Ghana.

The initiative is designed to educate local residents on waste separation and monetization, with practical lessons on how to separate plastic bottles and sachet water from wet and organic waste for collection, and how these can be monetized. With the rainy season in full swing, a primary goal of the clean-up is to prevent flooding and protect life and property by mitigating flooding and resource waste.

Beyond the clean-up activities, the event will also offer health screenings for participants, further emphasizing the commitment to improving community health and well-being.
